Smart summary: share via email shows a blank page. How can I solve this?

You can easily share the smart summary via email in your browser. If not set up correctly, clicking the Share via email button may lead to a blank page.

Open the email provider in the application

 

Mac

  • Open the Mail app, click Mail, then Preferences.
  • Under General, find Default email reader.
  • Select your email client.
  • Return to the Vectera meeting room, refresh, and re-enter. Open Personal notes and click Share via email. The summary should now open in your email provider unless you need to log in (see step 2).

 

Windows

  • Open the Start menu and go to Settings.
  • Select Apps
  • At the bottom click on Choose defaults by link type

  • Search for MAILTO and click on the box. Select your email application (eg. outlook).

  • (Optionally) Go back to Apps and click on Default apps. Find Mail and set the default program.
  • Return to the Vectera meeting room, refresh, and re-enter. Open Personal notes and click Share via email. The summary should now open in your email provider unless you need to log in (see step 2).

* Note: If this fails, follow the steps below as well. Give permission to handle protocols in your browser. If it still doesn't work after that, we recommend using the email provider in your browser.

 

Open the email provider in your browser

The issue is that your browser is not allowing protocol handlers from the email provider. To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Allow protocol handlers in your browser.
  2. Log in to Google/Outlook/iCloud.

Google Chrome

  • Click the 3 dots in the top right and go to Settings.
  • Click Privacy and Security.
  • In the Rights section, click Additional rights.
  • Click Protocol handlers.
  • Select 'Sites can ask to handle protocols'. Ensure your email provider is not listed under No permission. If it is, click the cross next to it.
  • Log in to your email provider in your browser (see step 2) and click the diamond icon in the URL bar.
  • Select Allow.

  • Return to the Vectera meeting room and Personal notes, click Share via email again. The summary should now open in your email provider.

* Note: If using Google Chrome on Mac, check the general Mail settings to ensure the browser is selected. See Safari (default on Mac)

 

Edge

  • Click the 3 dots in the top right and go to Settings.
  • Click Cookies and site permissions.
  • Click All permissions.
  • Click Protocol handlers.
  • Select 'Allow sites to ask to be default protocol handlers'.
  • Return to the Vectera meeting room and Personal notes, click Share via email again. You will either be asked which email providers to use or the email provider will open with the Smart summary.

* Note: If using Edge on Mac, check the general Mail settings to ensure the browser is selected. See Safari (default on Mac)

 

Firefox

  • Click the 3 lines in the top right and go to Settings.
  • Under General, find Files and Applications.
  • In the Applications section, find Mailto.
  • In the actions column, select your email provider. If you choose Always ask, you will be prompted to select an email provider each time you share the Smart Summary.

  • Return to the Vectera meeting room and Personal notes, click Share via email again. The summary should now open in your email provider unless you need to log in (see step 2).

  • Open the Mail app, click Mail, then Preferences.
  • Under General, find Default email reader.
  • Select your email client.
  • Return to the Vectera meeting room and Personal notes, click Share via email again. The summary should now open in your email provider unless you need to log in (see step 2).
